Five on Friday

Here I am again after being busy out of my mind for the last month. I cannot catch up with life right now. It's kicking my butt! We've been all over, but having fun none the less. Since most of the crazy is over, I'm hoping to be around here more often. For now, here's a little bit of what we've been up to and how I survive it.

1. birthday parties
We had Sky’ Party this past weekend and Noah’s right before that. Let me tell ya, I’m all partied out! Our big boy is 5 whole years! And sister is 2. So much celebrating and way too much cake! I take pride in creating everything for our parties. Décor, food, and sometimes even our special party clothes. I love to craft and thank goodness I’m good at it. Although it comes with stress, and most times, a really exhausted husband, the ending product is always great!
I bought the cake frosted in white buttercream and did the rest. I biught small containers of fondant from Michael's and piped the heck out of it. It was so cute, even after one of the kids stuck their finger in it.
How sweet is this? This is Sky's best friend, Shay. Sky calls her Shay Shay. It's too darn cute!

2. kid training
So we decided to rip it off like a Band-Aid all at once. Crib train Lucas, take the bottle from Sky (which we struggled with for a year) and potty-train her as well. If our house is going to go up in flames, well might as well have one big blow up, than 3 individual bangs. I’ll be straight with you and say we were pretty scared of what was going to happen. We tried taking the bottle from Sky on and off for a year and had no luck. The bottle was her comfort and safe zone. She couldn’t go to bed without it. Well… I’m happy to report it was all in our head. Sky flipped out twice for the bottle and then was completely fine. She was basically begging us to potty-train her for a few weeks so that happened. And Lucas sleeps like a baby all night long in his crib in his room. What was all the fuss about? We put it all off for so long because we were scared when it really wasn’t all that.

3. the great outdoors
It’s been warming up here in Texas on and off. Here I though NM had crazy weather. We have been spending TONS of time outside lately. The back door stays open from the time we get home until about 8pm. The kids run in and out and even Lucas enjoys sun bathing in his walker. We can finally catch a break while the kids run off their energy and give us some peace and quiet. At least for a couple of hours.

4. parent’s night out
Our daycare does a parents night out once a month on a Friday and we take advantage of it every time. It really is a steal compared to what we would pay a babysitter for 3 kids. Last month we ate really good Italian at Big Joes in Haslet that felt like NY when you walked in and went home to take a nap. Ha! Party animals. This month we had dinner at MidiCi which just opened in downtown Fort Worth. You’ve seen it before on the blog and we are really excited to have one nearby now. I love spending time alone with my hunk of love. I can’t get enough of him. Then we made it home in time for another nap before we picked up the kids. Wild!

5. planner
I just have to brag on my Erin Condren planner right now. My life is in this thing. If I were to lose it, I think I would lose my mind! I take it with me from home to work every day and live my life out of it. I put my schedule in it as well as the kids and what’s going on in daycare and at Noah’s school. I also got the extra 40 blank pages in the back for notes and this is where I plan our parties out of. I added the weekly meal board as well as the monthly bill tracking insert. What would I do without it? You need one! Absolutely worth the investment.
The one I use is on sale for a steal right now!

Thank yall for stopping by!
I've got some cute stuff coming up soon as well as Sky's Unicorn Party.
